New and reclaimed white oak is by far the most popular species for end grain wood block flooring.  Vintage oak planks and structural beams are commonly salvaged from old buildings, factories, barns, warehouses, and other unique early to mid-20th century structures. In years past, oak was commonly used for framing and structural members.  Once extracted, the reclaimed oak planks or beams must be kiln dried, inspected, de-nailed, and molded or trimmed.  These steps are vital to the pre-production of our wood blocks.  Although standard wood grading rules do not apply, we strive to source the best batches of reclaimed lumber to produce our hand-crafted products.
